Surprisingly easy; I usually author in with a text exitor, in 
TeX format for large documents these days, but have, at my 
office, Kile, Abiword, and OO; I did not know that OO had the 
'export' DOC to TeX converter, and was very pleasantly 
surprised.  Now about all those Word perfect 5 files from 20 
years ago to convert.  Then the Wang OIS ones from 30 years 
...
