Read the system-traders archive. There was the same question some 
time ago. One of my favorite books is T. Chande: Beyond Technical 
Analysis. This is an excellent book about the creation of trading 
systems.

Other books depend on what you want to do: Candlesticks: Nison, TA in 
general: Murphy, Chart: Schwager, Fun: Schwager, Patterns: Raschke, 
Conners, Psychology: Elder, ...
