[system-traders] Re: GT - implementing a working system

Thanks for getting back to me, much appreciated.
My "looking 4 days ahead" only works with backtesting...where you have the
data in the future. In real life I wait for the price to rise or fall to a
set level after my first signal as a signal confirmation. By backtesting I
can see if this system works elsewhere in markets I don't know intimately.
I made 258% return last year from my system - on 91 trades (not all winners
of course!!!) - but I didn't trade EVERY signal - I'd love to know what I
would have made if I traded EVERY signal over the entire market sector.
I'm afraid I'm still baffled by the layout and the help files! - It's too
technical for me! I might be a technical analyst... but I'm sure not a
coder!
All the best, good luck, and keep in touch - if you are developing a system
that can run these numbers I'll be interested - even if it's not generic.

Emily, I'm working on your system, but to complete "the mission" I will need to know the exact instrument you're trading, because data that I have (13000 default) never triggers your buy signal. Even better would be if you can provide the exact data in any kind of OHLC text format which I'll then convert to something that GT groks, no problem.

That data will be enough for me to show you how the buy signals would work and some nice graphics along the way, but to do the full backtesting you'll need to provide the logic behind sell signals, too. But that can come later, when you see that GT is capable of complex tasks.

Because I'm in the process of learning GT's ultimate possibilities, I'm very glad that you sent your system. It'll help me to get to the speed faster. Then I'll be glad to answer your question (what would happen if you have traded all the signals?) along the way.

I'm also interested in collecting and documenting good trading systems, then improve upon them in time. Markets are so bloody volatile these days, it's a waste if one is not catching the waves. But it's important to have a good swimming vest, and GT seems to be the great one. ;)
